We Alleviate Suffering

Every year, over 80 billion land animals and about 125 billion fish are raised for food worldwide—more than ever before. Most of them live in factory farms, with hardly any room to move or do what comes naturally.

Factory farms keep animals in dreary warehouses, barren wire cages, and cold metal crates barely large enough to hold them. The animals often go through painful procedures without any pain relief, and their lives are ended through harsh slaughter methods. Their feelings and value as living beings are ignored, and they are treated like products for sale rather than animals who think, feel, and form bonds like our beloved dogs and cats.

We have a moral duty to these animals to end factory farming.

How We Alleviate Suffering

We encourage companies to adopt animal welfare policies that end the worst practices in our food system, such as extreme confinement. By doing this, we can build momentum against these practices and create more support for compassionate options, such as plant-based meat, dairy, and eggs—or even meat grown from animal cells instead of live animals.

As more companies take steps to improve animal welfare, pushing for changes in laws and government policies becomes easier. When cruel practices start to be seen as less normal, both businesses and the public begin to reject them.

Stronger laws and policies ensure that harmful practices are banned for good—and that the bans are actually enforced. This helps guide the food industry towards a future where plant-based and cell-grown foods replace factory-farmed products and our food system is kinder to animals and better for everyone.
