Bringing Our Movement to Life in Malaysia

Our volunteer programme offers Malaysians passionate about animal protection the opportunity to organise awareness events, participate in outreach efforts, and support advocacy initiatives.

Our people are our lifeblood, meeting challenges with resourcefulness, creativity, and determination. By forming strong communities, developing leadership skills, and taking consistent action, we’re building the movement that will transition societies away from industrial animal agriculture.

Common Questions

Causes often look very different from one another in their available volunteer opportunities. We believe that volunteering with Mercy For Animals is a unique and special way to help farmed animals in need and fulfill personal motivations for getting involved.

Because Mercy For Animals is building a people-powered movement to take down factory farming, we need a lot of talented folks to get involved and do this work side by side with us. Volunteering with our organisation often means participating in, supporting, or leading actions and events locally or online that create a strong support base for organising campaigns, developing leaders, and advancing campaigns through consistent action.

We look to our volunteers to accept varying levels of involvement according to their availability and interest. Involvement could range from being the sole organiser of an event to taking on a support role in organising an event (such as printing or picking up materials), showing up consistently at events, and recruiting friends to join events.

Regardless of what you do, we want it to be an impactful and engaging way to make lasting change to the food system.

Building community is especially important, so you’ll have the opportunity to foster meaningful connections with other folks in your community and even advance your own learning and skill development!

We believe that we are all lifelong learners, and we hope to provide volunteers with opportunities to build their skills, develop their activism, and deepen their confidence as leaders in the movement. With that comes our offer of resources and support for volunteers in their journeys!

The resources or support we provide may vary according to volunteer project. Most often we supply resources such as guides and toolkits, trainings, and one-on-one support and coaching with our staff organisers. We stay in close contact with volunteers who are coordinating actions and events to ensure they feel supported, prepared, and confident.

We also offer resources and support for more-passive learning. Check out our resource hub to learn and explore at your own pace and enhance your activism.

None! Our movement welcomes everyone looking to help farmed animals, whether new to animal advocacy or a seasoned activist. We believe in meeting folks where they are and supporting them in creating spaces for practice, peer learning, and experimentation. Every person brings their unique skills, talents, and experience to the table to help us build a movement that is creative, well-rounded, and growth-oriented.
